I've got my finger in so many pies at the moment : getting orders ready and preparing for an exhibition in May ...that I've nothing complete to show you ..just LOTS of half finished pieces. So I thought I would share some of the pencil sketches I recently did. I got the total " pencil urge!" over the Christmas hols and since it was a bit of time I'd promised myself to create whatever I fancied outside of the normal stitchery I went for it.....
I do love using pencils, it seems to be the medium for me where I just kind of scribble away without much thought then suddenly something appears on the page and I am left pleasantly surprised ,but largely wondering where the heck it came from!
These sketches have lead me to experimenting and creating some pieces for exhibiting...I look forward to showing you them in May!
I love youre pencil sketches.

Thanks Melanie :)x
DeleteYour draw so beautifully Jenny. There is something so satisfying about pencil and paper. I have just seen your comment about dyeing on my blog. There is no magic involved I just use Dylon dyes, sometimes mix them together or dye something and then over dye it again. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Jayne ..if it's allright with you though I'm going to stick with my image of you amidst lots of bubbling pots, surrounded by all sorts of colourful fruits and flowers getting launched in left right and centre! :)x
DeleteThese are gorgeous, Jenny! You have a real talent for realistic animal portraiture! LOve the added whimsy in there, though :)
ReplyDeleteHi Cameron, thanks so much for such kind words, they mean alot :)
DeleteScribble? SCRIBBLE!
ReplyDeleteJeez woman, you really know how to make someone feel inadequate. If that is what you produce when you scribble I might have to donate all of my pencils to you. They are obviously in the wrong hands here :o)
Hope the preparation for the show are going well and you've managed to procure a large bear for the next full moon.
Eek..sorry no feeling of inadequacy permitted her :) (However I have to add- your ability to wear killer heels far surpasses my pencil sketches!!)
DeleteThanks for lovely thoughts..currently searching ebay for bear procurement :)x
Calling these 'sketches' doesnt seem grand enough! They are truely amazing, especially the stag.
ReplyDeleteOh thankyou Abigail x
Deletewow - 'staggering'! No really - really good. Have you had art training? before midwifery or are you a natural talent? You've reminded me of the benefits of a little 'off pieste' art time - good things come up. good luck with the prep. x
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Claire! No, I've no art training..spent my last year at high school getting a portfolio ready only to be put of by my art teacher..ended up studying social anthropology instead! (very useful indeed!ha!) :)x
ReplyDeletePfft. You can seriously go off people you know. These are sooooo good. I love them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely words over at mine recently - they mean so much. I sometimes think I waffle on a bit. And maybe say to much especially on those reviews :)
Time to catch up with Blogland now!
Waffle away Carmen...I'm always a fan :)x
