Holy Guacamole...today is a day to go down in history...schools sports day and the sun SHONE!!! Woohoo! Every year the fingers are crossed that for one single day in June the sun will give up the goods and not subject the parents to ANOTHER year huddled under wind swept umbrellas!
(I think "chariots of fire" theme fits perfectly here!)
And the sun certainly did pull out the stops today..glorious!...I even bared my milk bottle legs for the first time this year...
(noooo, put them away..I'm blinded!)
Anyhoos, I'm still leaning towards sewing at the mo, but wanted to pull out a paintbrush to join in the Paint Party fun...so a flash of inspiration lead to this quick little painting!
Do you have the saying "grow a pair"?!! Yes I'm afraid the true meaning is of the slightly rude testicular variety...however I think you know me well enough to know I would never say such a thing :) ...until now that is!! xx
Smashing painting and love the nail polish... Happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeletejenny! hilarious, as i'm re-steering my brain to think of these words in the translation of wings!
ReplyDeletei would be thrilled to grow these! so pretty!
xox!
Silliness at its best! I think you should start a movement to change the meaning of "grow a pair!"
ReplyDeleteWe have the same shade of nail polish on our toes...hehe.
This is a wonderful post I luv your sense of humor!. I'm happy I found your blog and I love your wings in the painting. I have a difficult time drawing my own.

ReplyDeleteI love the painting and the idea. Tempted to steal it - for my own use only of course as a little reminder to be sweeter!♥ Rosie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting to illustrate a much better take on that saying. ;) Loved your post, as always.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I was relieved to see the wings, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI like your rendition of "Growing A Pair" sooooo much better. Lovely work! HAPPY PPF!
ReplyDeleteOh how well I remember cold wet miserable Scottish sports days (brrrrr!) So kind of the sun to come out and play for you.
ReplyDeleteLove the wings!
Lol. I thought you were being rude when I saw the blog title. I don't think my brain wraps around this as wings! Like your nail polish btw!
ReplyDeleteThis is very (well yes I was going to say ballsy) but it's so funny and sweet - taking that quote & turning it on it's head is delightful, a wonderfully feminine take - LOVE IT!! Oh & your nail polish & Chariot's of Fire photo, and seeing the sun in Scotland, my husbands cousins will be happy!!!
ReplyDeleteYes this is a much nicer more upbeat version of growing a pair...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove the painting, really made me smile. Yea for sun, we finally had sun today also.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your saying! You need to publish it everywhere! I am so glad you had a sunny day for your sports day! Have a great weekend, hope the sun stays out! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood thing you pulled out the paintbrush! I like your painting, great colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great twist to those words- I like it so much more when associated with wings! Oh, and my toenails are blue too :D

Stephanie
Beautiful photos with a delicious colors and excellent framing. I love the feet.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! You should print it up business card size and hand it out to whiners.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha!!!!
ReplyDeleteI started laughing from the minute I read the title of this post! Oh this post was so good... From one of my very favorite expressions ("Holy Guacamole", not "Grow a Pair"... sheesh - what do you think of me?!? ha!) to the Chariots of Fire reference! Then of course the reference to your milk bottle legs (I too have blindingly white legs). There is so much wonderfully funny goodness weaved in with your beautiful art! It is always such a bright spot in my day when I visit!
I think it is wonderful that you are so talented at both sewing and painting... and that you share both with us... such a gift!
xo
Kristin
p.s. Congratulations on being the first PPF partier to include the word testicular in their post! ha!
Love it!
ReplyDeleteJust love your play on words! Great art! So fun! You must live near me, we finally got sun yesterday too! Albeit it fought with clouds until the evening!
ReplyDeleteHappy ppf!
Wings! I like your take on that phrase. Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteWings, wings...such useful things
ReplyDeleteFly, fly...high in the sky
Oh! I could get carried away on a pair of those!!
Glad you had some lovely weather and got to bare your legs (and toes!). Cute painting! Your wings and text are lovely! Despite the connotations of the phrase, all I can think of are our little chIcks who are all busy growing their pairs, and our ducklings whose wings are still teeny tiny! Guess my mind is a bit preoccupied!
ReplyDeletejust gorgeous wings!!! my daughter believes she was born a fairy but her wings fell off and that someday they will grow back.so precious!
ReplyDeletei love the beautiful colors too.
hugs
xo
I love your painting, made me smile! My legs are the same way!
ReplyDeleteI love this painting! Grow a pair. Very cute. I am working on it!!! So sorry I am late this week!!!
ReplyDeleteHi! this is so great! I love the spin on vulgar statement, you've made it comical and sweet :)
ReplyDeleteThat would make a great T-shirt!
OH, I forgot to ask you... what is a bunting? (you mentioned it on my post about Farmer's Markets)
ReplyDelete:) thanks!
Jaime
great post and i love that you photo-ed your legs getting bared for the first time this year! love the nail varnish! i laughed at your painting as it is an expression my hubs and i have been using about our neighbour recently (throws loud parties but scuttles off indoors the next day as soon as he sees us coming out or into the house!) brilliant-maybe i should do one and give it to him!
ReplyDeleteYou are just too funny and I Love your painting!
ReplyDeletetotally awesome painting!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting and fantastic concept! I'm definitely working on growing a pair so that I can be uplifted and joyful. That sounds so wrong... Love your work, love your take on life, and love your fantabulousness. Big hugs, Em x
