Yep I'm afraid..more notebooks..I'm kind of in mass production (a whole 5 items created!!) so I have some things to sell for the upcoming event. The idea was to use up the mass of scrap paper I have accumulated from my fabric journals and make some dinky journals that I could price cheaply......however things always take so much longer than anticipated and then the cheapness becomes more a feeling of ripping myself off! Ah well ....we'll see how well they sell on the day and then prices may rise or fall :)
The recipe to mini journals:
one stash of cut-offs and left overs
an old kiddies board book torn up and cut for covers
A bit of decoration with acrylic paints and sharpie pens
Add a bit of recycled strong material for the spine which is glued to the covers. Then bind the pages using embroidery thread and pamphlet stitch:
Et voila.... mini journals......
I read somewhere that writing just 3 things at the end of each day that have made you smile/that you enjoyed enhances your mood and general wellbeing HUGELY... I like to think these little rinky dinks are the perfect home for those 3 magical things :)
Oh and of course its Friday today...time for partying with lots of lovely painty people over here....come join me :)x

ReplyDeleteAmazing! They are just terrific!
ReplyDeleteOoh do you have a new blog header & buttons? Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous notebooks! They would be perfect for the magical end of day three. But would equally be perfect for anything - I would probably spend most of my time just admiring their beauty and showing them to envious friends! :-)
Thanks for the tutorial. Have you built that annexe yet ready for your art and book making retreats? ;-)

ReplyDeleteHi Jenny, love your rinky dink mini journals... so colourful and fun. Am loving mine. Have a good weekend..
ReplyDeletePerfect Jenny! I love the scalloped edges and the happy colors you've chosen. Hope you sell out in a flash!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastically cute! I have learned that making little journals and notepads is just as much work as making big ones. The material cost may be less, but the work is the same. So don't price to low! What is the event that you are making all the journals for? I looked back through the blog but didn't see it. Also, I'd love to know what kind of printer you bought.
ReplyDeleteI want a mini jenny journal! Just yesterday I wrote 3 little words on my arm with that made me smile. It really did improve my mood. Best wishes for the sale! Wishing you love and a Happy Mothers Day Jenny! Oh and you're the winner of my giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteYour friend,
Jenny :)
Love these mini books, they are wonderful. I also like the 3 little words and will try and start using that. It is a great way to make sure every day ends on a positive note.

Gorgous as always! They have your name written all over them - you have really developed your own style, Jenny. Good luck with selling them. As Toadinaboat said, it can take as long to make a small item as a larger one, so don't under cut yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou talk like we're sick of seeing those journals of yours. Speaking as one who has a few....we'll NEVER get sick of seeing those, or wanting more! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd you know I want a play by play of the whole event when it happens right? I can't wait to hear all about it!
As soon as I came here my day was brighter :) Vibrant & fun!!! Happy PPF ;)
ReplyDeleteSuch happy looking notebooks, very cute.
ReplyDeleteLove the vibrant and spring feel color scheme. Very sweet work! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour journals are so cool. I'm sure they'll sell very well. Have a good time. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute - though I know what you mean about things taking longer and feeling like you are ripping yourself off - but the other side is a storage problem with all the things not sold cos they are the right price!!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute, thanks for sharing the process! And yes, writing, thinking, saying words of love & appreciation greatly enhances the well being in your life! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
ReplyDeleteYour note books are absolutely stunning! Love the lush colors!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!
Hugs,
Gaby
