Celebratory GIVEAWAY!

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." (chinese proverb)

Yep! I've taken quite a few steps to get to here, must have totalled several miles by now! And here is the next step...

Woohoooooooooo!!
Who would have thunk it..little old me with a website!
So to mark the occasion and CELEBRATE I'm having a giveaway of frilly fishie goodness...

A matching pouch and journal......

The little journal/sketchbook is perfect for stuffing into your bag and carrying about to catch those little moments of inspiration or sketches. The pages are artists watercolour paper 230gsm with a few added pages of glittery navy blueness! There are two little button and ribbon closures to keep it all neat and snug.

You may remember the pouch from one of my previous experiments which created a slight zip battle. We've made our peace now ...me and the fishie (and the zip!) and I've even sewn on a few
more decorative bits to compensate for the heated exchange!

So if you think you'd like these frilly fishie pieces here's what I'd like you to do!!....
* Become a follower if you are not already! (do you think i could make it to 200?! Ooh icing on the cake or what!)
* Check out my website (on the link above)and leave me a comment below telling me what you like best!
* If you feel so inclined to spread the word through bloggy land, facebook, twitter then let me know and that'll get you another entry.

The Giveaway closes on November 5th...a night of fireworks in this part of the world!

And finally I would like to send out a HUGE heartfelt THANKYOU to all you lovely peeps out there,(YOU know who YOU are!!) because without the ocean of support you give those steps would be soooo much harder XX

A week of firsts!

Its been a week of firsts here.....my eldest's first day at high school (gulp!) and my youngest's first day at nursery (double gulp!) Surprisingly there has been no tears...would like to say the same for tantrums!(that would be the tweenager rather than the young un!) :)

Its also the first for grappling back a bit of creative time during the day which vanished with the afternoon naps of my youngest many months ago. Its not without a taint of bittersweet as it marks my little girl spreading her wings and gaining a little step of independence.

As you can see its my first flamingo creation too! Major pinkage going on! Slightly over the top I think :)

And first little proper pouches I've made following instructions...(which I am NOTORIOUSLY bad at doing!)
I've been trying out new ways of getting my "blank canvas" from a variety of different things, as I've somehow managed to sign myself up for "The British Craft Trade Fair" (another first!) which seems bonkers when I really don't have much to trade with!!
......anyhoos pouchy bag things are proving not to be MY bag at the mo...takes FOREVER!
So a week of transformation really...and how better to end than a fluttering butterfly!
Hope you have had a fantastic week..I'd love to hear what your "firsts" have been! :)xx

Here's the finished fishie book as promised! Frills seemed the most natural thing to compliment those fins! AMAZING!
I'm going for lots of photos to make up for little words!
...am in the middle of a busy working week!

"see further than the goldfish bowl"....
Hope to catch up with you all soon!

Stripping it all back..

Do you remember the film "Labyrinth"?I LOVED that weirdy wonderful world as a youngster and David Bowie... need I say more?
Add an "itis" onto the end of labyrinth and you get another equally weirdy world, maybe less of the wonderful and definitely no David Bowie! Boohoo!
Its been a funny old time lately...so much searching, questioning, stripping back the layers and then my body steps in and gives me no option other than to STOP!
So while I am no longer on an emotional rollercoaster, my senses are taking me on a trip that couples a spinning wheel with a stormy sea! It's the STRANGEST experience ever! Especially when I'm sitting here stock still!
If I shut one eye while typing its only a marginal rock back and forward, the storm has settled a little!! Needless to say I'll not be staying here for long..just wanting to pretend for a moment all is normal :)

These pencil sketches I did the day before labyrinthitis set in....stripping back to what I used to love doing a bit of lead on paper. I'll let you see what I've done with them soon...
hugs to you all xx
